The restaurant is lovely, the staff are incredibly attentive and personal, however the food is only ok and it is quite pricey compared to the rest of the island. Mains are around 20 USD, deserts around 10 USD. The menu is somewhat limited. However, Eclypse de Mar also has lodging, which is totally fabulous! The bungalows are spacious, neatly decorated, you have your own docs. The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast in the bungalow is a fantastic way to start the day. The hotel runs on solar energy, so there is no electricity in the bungalows during the day, and unfortunately our WiFi wasn't working. However, none of this matters considering the gorgeous views, the transparent water, the lovely little jungle just behind the lodgings, and the wonderful staff. Overall, we loved it!
Although our weather was not good, we still had a great time here. The bungalows are picture perfect and the attention to detail in the hotel is great. The bay is a little noise with the boats, but it does quiet down at night. You are close enough to Bocas to easily participate in that debauchery, but far enough away to be in peace. Although there is a reef in front of the hotel, I highly commend taking the kayaks out further past the reef to the left. The snorkelling down the bay was amazing. The restaurant food is OK... not great. Although, I haven't had great food anywhere on this island.
Very nice place to stay. Quite unique. The only problem was the club in nearby downtown. Very loud music kept playing till 3:30 am ruining the sound of the ocean and the sleep. You need to use earplugs! The trail is muddy in rain season. Be prepared.
